LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Site

In our short history as a program, the Gator Junior Golf Association’s goal has always primarily been to reach kids of all backgrounds through the game of golf.

Our weekend programming is open to anyone willing to sign up; Our Reichert House classes are for those with substantially less opportunity and privilege; Our Girl’s Place clinic is designed specifically for the diverse young women in the program.

We believe no kid should be denied access to the game for whatever circumstance, and constantly try to find new outlets to introduce the game we love to others through our continuous Grow the Game initiative.

Recently, we joined forces with golf’s governing body to become an official LPGA-USGA Girl’s Golf site, centered at Gainesville Country Club. The move makes us one of over 500 in a quickly growing contingency of sites nationwide and provides countless more opportunities for girls to get involved in golf and enjoy the great game.

“Becoming a certified LPGA-USGA Girl’s Golf site is the first step in providing greater benefits and opportunities for the young women in our program,” said Max Meier, our Director of Operations and Site Director for the new program. “Girl’s Golf is one of the most well-respected organizations in its sport, and has decades-long success making impacts on its members.”

According to its website, LPGA-USGA Girl’s Golf is “the only national junior golf program that specializes in providing girl-friendly environments for juniors to learn the game of golf”. Founded in 1989, the program seeks to provide girls with quality golf instruction led by certified PGA and LPGA professionals, while also imparting valuable life skills and instilling confidence. Since its inception, the program has reached a community of more than 80,000 young girls across the globe.

Starting in the Spring of 2020, we plan on introducing Girls Golf clinics at Gainesville Country Club. Two of our finest instructors, Amica Lertkitcha and Rica Tse will be actively involved in the instruction and empowerment of our young women and will undoubtedly take on mentor roles in the lives of many of them.

We will have ten annual events for girls only, ages 6-17, varying from simple full swing instruction to exciting and interactive clinics engaging them in all kinds of golf-related activities. Along with that, each girl in our program will receive special membership packages that include goodies like hats, backpacks and ball markers.

“It brings great pleasure seeing how far our organization has come in recent years to grow the game to countless children and families in the community,” Meier said. “We hope to continue striving to share the game we have all come to love.”
