Volunteer FAQ's
What kind of prior golf teaching experience is required to become a coach?
Volunteer coaches are required to have prior golfing experience, but one does not need to be an expert in teaching. All that is required is to have a passion to help young children learn the game of golf! Our coach training sessions will prepare you to use the teaching methods that will best serve our junior golfers.
What commitment is expected of volunteers?
We strive for flexibility for our volunteer coaches. Volunteers are expected to attend at least one golf class a week for at least half of the golf season.
What will I be doing at class?
As a coach, you will be working with students in a group of 2-4, helping them practice the skill taught for that day. This will include reinforcing proper form, ensuring the safety of all students, and handing out lots of high fives!
Are interns accepted at the Gator Junior Golf Association?
Intern candidates will start as volunteer coaches. Interns will be selected from our most reliable volunteers who are seeking additional professional experience. Email us for more information.
Who is eligible to become a coach?
All ages are welcome to coach. Some prior golf experience is required, and prior experience in working with children is recommended but not required. All volunteers will be subject to an annual background check.
How will I know when I am approved to coach?
You will receive an email when your background check has cleared
When will I be reimbursed for my background check?
You will be reimbursed on the first golf class you are able to attend
