Week Eight: Driving

Students will be able to:

  • learn how to use a driver

  • understand how to hold the follow-through

  • learn how to maintain good balance, rhythm, and tempo

  • define perseverance

  • compete in a driving contest

Remember: worksheet is due NEXT WEEK

Full Swing - Follow-through: Notes

  • We have discussed the backswing and downswing in full swing. Now, we will learn how to complete the swing. After impact position, continue your Y and L swing, and then turn your chest toward the target. All of your weight should shift to your front foot, and the club should wrap around your head.

Driving: Notes

  • Drivers go farther than any other club. This is because the clubhead is the largest and there is the least loft. For driving, remember two things to change in your stance: the ball position should be towards the front foot, and your shoulders should be tilted upward. Your feet should be past shoulder-width apart.
