Full Swing - Backswing: Notes
In full swing, we learn the other half of the swing. Pitching was the first half, and now we will learn how to complete the swing.
This week, we will discuss the backswing. We first make our letter Y, then letter L, then we pivot our shoulders (rotate/turn our shoulders) so that the club is in parallel position - parallel to our target line.
Note, your shoulders should rotate around the club like they’re on an axis. Don’t lift them up and down or shift them from side to side.
Positions of the Backswing:
Setup Position (P1): this is where we take our GASP
Y/9 o’clock Position (P2): this is the Y positions, before our wrists break. You begin pulling your wrists back
L Position (P3): you break your wrists and your forearm is parallel to the target line
Parallel Position (P4): this is the top of your swing, after you pivot your shoulders until your club is parallel to the target line
