What's New in Fall 2020

These past few months have been unprecedented for Gator Junior Golf and our extended family. In the wake of our spring season being abruptly postponed for several weeks, and the unusual circumstances that we had been forced to work around as a result, we could not be more excited to announce new and improved revisions to our fall programs.

As is standard here at Gator Junior Golf, the safety of our students, parents and coaches remains our utmost priority. To accommodate to the times and provide each of our students with the comfort they need to participate, we have made some changes for fall classes. Some of the new procedures include, but are not limited to:

-       Sanitization of golf clubs and equipment before and after each class

-       No shared golf clubs or water cooler

-       Strongly recommend mask-wearing and will practice social-distancing guidelines

-       Minimal coach-student contact

If our fall 2020 season is to become our most successful season yet the following of our safety policies will remain our primary focus. Despite these unfortunate circumstances, our fall schedule is looking to be our most promising yet!

We have added two new classes to our already-packed weekend schedule. A new on-course Beginner class will take place on Sundays from 4-6 p.m. at Ironwood Golf Course. We have also added a new walk-up clinic scheduled for Saturdays from 3-4 p.m. at Gainesville Country Club. Both of these classes will be taught by our talented Bobby Estrada, one of our six professional instructors in the program. The other staff returning to our programs include Class A PGA Professionals Scott Hampton and Bob Geambazi, and head professionals Greg Betz, Eric Thomas, Bobby Estrada and John Stevens.

In addition to our new programs, we will be continuing our popular play days at five courses across Alachua County. Our LPGA-USGA Girl’s Golf clinic will resume again on a monthly basis, giving our girls even more opportunities to fall in love with golf.

Continuing our collective initiative to grow the game of golf, we will continue our monthly visit to the brave kids at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, our Special Olympics class held Monday’s at Ironwood, and our strong relationship with Reichert House and Girl’s Place to provide free weekly instruction to our less privileged extended family. Through our First Gators (4-5) and Pee-Wee (6-7) programs we will continue to make golf more accessible to younger kids.

These have certainly been trying times for all of us here at Gator Junior Golf, but an exciting fall season is just over the horizon. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back!

See you all soon,

Gator Junior Golf
