Progress Report

Week 9 Notes:

  1. •If a ball alters its position, it is deemed to have moved

    IF THE BALL IS AT REST AND IS MOVED

    •When is it PENALIZED (1 stroke)?

    –If moved by you, your partner,  equipment, or your caddie

    Put the ball back

    •When is it NOT PENALIZED?

    –If moved by any outside agency or any person not listed above

    –What is an outside agency?

    –Put the ball back

  2. IF THE BALL IS MOVING AND IS MOVED

    When is it PENALIZED (1 stroke)?

    –If motion is changed by you, your partner, or your caddie

    –Play it as it lies

    •When is it NOT PENALIZED?

    –If motion is changed by anything not listed above

    –Play it as it lies

    –EXCEPTION- if an outside agency moves the ball on the green, cancel and replay the stroke- no penalty


    If your ball is moved by another ball- play it as it lies, unless it is on the green, in which there is a 2 stroke penalty to whomever made the stroke

  3. How to lift and drop balls:

    •A ball must be marked if lifted

    •When dropping, stand erect, hold the ball at shoulder height and arm’s length, and drop it

    •If the ball strikes a player or equipment, redrop without penalty

    •If you drop outside a hazard and it rolls back in, redrop without penalty. If it rolls in again, you may place the ball as you wish.
